Get placeholders related to the site you are developing, by pulling images from flickr based on tags

About

Jonathan Foucher built this in five eleven hours, by the clock. I really liked placekitten.com, but would not see myself using it on a client site.

With this little app, you can get images from flickr based on the tags you choose. It’s generally pretty accurate, so you should get images closely related to the subject matter of the website you’re building.

The photos are pulled from flickr using its search api, searching only creative commons material, and watermarking them with the name of the author, to be in accordance with the creative commons licences, which all require attribution

New feature! In about 1 hour I got this new feature working : by appending `bw` to the image url, you’re getting an image converted to black and white, for those cases where you need to tone down slightly your placeholders.

New feature! Append a number to any url to get different images, even if they are the same size and tags.

f8 Conference Badges

allbooklets

“Now who are you again?” Facebook designers stumbled upon a novel approach to the usual name tag problems.

The conference badge is a challenging design conundrum. John D. Berry duly likens them to highway signs in this Font magazine article. How do we create a template for names which vary widely in length, while making each one legible enough to reduce the chances of an awkward chest gaze?

Water Colour Textures – Freebies

Download a few free watercolour textures, They are experiments with washes and the last (Numbers) using indian ink. I’m plannng to mix them up with vector graphics and use them as a backdrop… well I think thats what I’m going to do….

They’re all high resolution RGB files. Use them as you wish, personal or commercial no strings attached, bar one, you have to let me know how you used them so I can gather more imagery for you.

Please feel free to leave any comments you have. If you get a chance send what you’ve created back to me and I’ll put together a gallery.
